A flow computer is a specialized computer used for calculating, recording and controlling the flow rate of liquids or gases using algorithms. The computers operate through wired or wireless networks to connect to multiple damage-resistant hardware components. They consist of a flow meter, temperature transmitter and pressure transmitter passing through a segmented section of a pipeline that calculates the flow of crude oil, refined oil, natural gas, ethylene and nitrogen. Once the data is recorded, insights are generated regarding the data points, such as temperature, speed of flow, pressure, mass, chemical state and gas density.
Rapid industrialization across the globe represents one of the key factors creating a positive outlook on the market. Flow computers are widely used across industries for fuel monitoring, liquid and gas measurement, wellhead measurement and optimization, pipeline transmission and distribution and custody transfer and control. Furthermore, the increasing requirement for accurate and efficient systems for the measurement of petrochemical and crude oil products is also driving the market growth. Additionally, various technological advancements, such as the integration of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing solutions with the connected devices, are acting as other growth-inducing factors. These technologies offer real-time monitoring and data acquisition from the flow computers. In line with this, the launch of wireless and solar-powered flow computers is also contributing to the growth of the market. Other factors, including the increasing requirement for industrial automation, along with extensive research and development (R&D) activities, are anticipated to drive the market further.
