A carbon dioxide incubator is a sealed, climate-controlled box utilized in life science laboratories for growing biological cell cultures. It helps maintain an optimal environment for cell growth by offering CO2 control in a humidified atmosphere with a constant temperature. Its interiors are made using corrosion-resistant materials, such as stainless steel, and have very few sharp edges and grooves to avoid places wherein pathogens can proliferate. The air flows through a sterile filter in the incubator and is distributed evenly throughout the whole interior as samples are generally positioned on different shelves. At present, CO2 incubators are available in numerous sizes and configurations and offer specific features like the support of hypoxic applications.
The global market is currently experiencing growth on account of the expanding applications of CO2 incubators in different studies, such as cancer, embryonic cell, stem cell, neuroscience, tissue engineering and cultivation of mammalian cells. Apart from this, the key players are focusing on the integration of advanced technologies and the introduction of incubators with innovative features, such as self-calibration, password-protected settings, door opening alarms, auto decontamination cycles, and pre-set and over-temperature alarms, to expand their product portfolio and increase their sales. Some of the other factors propelling the growth of the market are the increasing expenditure in the pharmaceutical sector on research and development activities, government and corporate support, and the rising utilization of next-generation equipment.
